Wasting food is like stealing from the poor, says pope
Wed Jun 5, 2013
I'm not a Catholic but I think the Pope is calling attention to a problem my husband and I have long noticed. Nothing is more offensive than when you see a huge "tomato fight" on the news. Or around Thanksgiving, "bowling with turkeys." It literally makes me queasy. We NEVER throw out food.
Mom charged with leaving 4 kids in car while she drank in bar
Sun May 5, 2013
I can't believe this even made the news. I have two friends (one female, one male) who were ALSO left in the car while Daddy went a-drinkin'.
8-month-old boy dies after dog attack near San Diego
Fri Jun 15, 2012
Why is it that we can detect, and are drawn to, different traits of different dogs -- boxers are great with kids, poodles are smart but sometimes nip, border collies are otherworldly brilliant -- but if it is a negative trait -- pit bulls are aggressive -- it's blasphemy.
Final prosecution witness testifies Jerry Sandusky forcibly raped him
Thu Jun 14, 2012
Sandusky is obviously the most repulsive, cringe-inducing person on the planet. BUT...(and I know this won't be popular) his wife may have been afraid of him (he DID threaten one of his victim's family). She may have an alcohol or pill addiction and have been unconscious every evening.
Another reason dogs rule: They know what you're thinking
Thu Jan 5, 2012
I once received a disturbing call from my doctor. When I hung up the phone, not crying or being demonstrative at all, my boxer came, sat at my feet, looked in my eyes, and put her head back and howled. She had never howed before and has never howled since.
Double killer taunts governor over death row reprieve
Sun Nov 27, 2011
How about we inject a few facts in this discussion? 1) Kitzhammer is a Democrat. 2) He is also a physician, bound by oath to "first of all, do no harm." 3) In his previous term as governor, he allowed two executions to occur and has never gotten over it.
Bachmann goes after Gingrich on his abortion record
Sat Nov 19, 2011
I think we're witnessing a real, textbook, genuine mental breakdown. She CANNOT actually be as crazy as she seems. No one could. Her eyes frighten me and her jabbering is scary, too. Someone get her some Thorazine and a cute little (pink?) straitjacket.
Cain campaign denies sexual harassment
Mon Oct 31, 2011
I thought Herman Cain was supposed to be the "fresh face" and the "Washington outsider." He was CEO of the Restaurant Association! That's a huge, huge LOBBYING group. He knows how it works. Money in, wishes granted. This folksy thing is a complete sham.
Do you think the Iraq war hurt U.S. reputation?
Tue Aug 30, 2011
Plans were in place long before 9/11 to invade Iraq. (See "Thieves in High Places" by Jim Hightower.) For years, my husband has referred to "President Cheney" since he was truly in charge of that insane administration. Whatever you do, DON'T BUY HIS BOOK!
Ryan pushes back after Democrat takes House seat
Tue May 24, 2011
Here is what I don't understand. The Republican philosophy seems to be that "if it doesn't affect you, why do you care?" They truly seem baffled that the over-55's could possibly care about a medical safety net for their children or grandchildren. I think this philosophy is an over-reachi …
